Write for the Chronicle

If you have an idea, thought, or opinion that is waiting to be heard, let it out now and send us the article! Follow the instructions below for your submission. Remember: we do not guarantee that your article will be published, but if your article follows our ethics and guidelines, you will see it on this website soon!

Guidelines for Submission:

1. All submissions must follow our formatting guidelines. Use this template.

2. Include your first and last name (this is how it will appear when your article is published), and your grade level (optional). Anonymous submissions will not be accepted. You may withhold your name from the online publication but we will not accept any submissions that are anonymous.

3. Article must have an appropriate headline. This is subject to improvement in cases where it is necessary.

4. Article should contain at least 1 image or photograph that you have taken or one that you have permission to use.

   1. You MUST have copyrights from the owner of the image if you choose to use one from the internet. Simple MLA or APA citations won’t work. We need to see the formal agreement that gave your permission.

   2. You MAY request to work with an illustrator to create an original piece of art. All credits will go to the illustrator for the image.

5. Submission can contain a brief bio of the author. This is where you can brag about yourself…. but please keep it short (2-3 lines)!

6. Article must contain at least 500 words and cannot exceed 4000 words. The Chronicle does not publish scientific research papers. However, you may submit an abstract and conclusion for publication with a link to your research paper which we can publish.

7. Submission must contain an editable version of the article. This can be a Word Document or a Google Doc.

8. Any media accompanying the article must be downloadable. No specific formats are required.

THE AK CHRONICLE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO EDIT YOUR ARTICLE (THIS INCLUDES ADDING, REMOVING, OR REPHRASING PARTS OF YOUR ARTICLE) WHILE PRESERVING YOUR ORIGINALITY.

Other Information:

If you want your article to be published in a certain layout, feel free to attach an additional PDF file that displays the requested layout. The Chronicle team will try its best to replicate that design while working with the features Weebly provides. 

We take the integrity of our publication extremely seriously. Article content will be reviewed by the Chronicle team and if any offensive or misleading content is found, the article will not be published and the offense will be recorded and referred to for further publication requests from the author.
