Don’t Know What Political Party You Fit? Try This Quiz to Find Out

By: Raney South

Many students are lost when it comes to political parties. You can research a party’s platform, but that can get confusing and time consuming. If you want to find a party that is right for you, then you should take this political quiz.

There is a website (isidewith.com) that gives a short, free quiz that tells you your compatibility with multiple political parties based on specific social, environmental, foreign policy and economic issues. It might sound threatening here, wondering where you fall on these issues or where certain political parties fall on these issues. This quiz makes it easy to find where you stand because of its simple format and answer options.

The questions normally have a yes or no answer format, but if you are unsure, then they have other options that aren’t so definite or extreme. A sample question they ask is: “Should the government increase environmental regulations to prevent global warming?” Now, some people are definitely on one side or the other, but other people are unsure or have conditions. For instance, you might want more government regulations, but do not want the government to raise taxes to make these changes.

At the end of the quiz, they tell you what percentage you match each party and what issues caused you to be lined up with them. The results might say you are 70% of each party, then explain why. Now, that sounds confusing, but it explains why and what political issue caused you to be so compatible with that party. This quiz is not to tell you what party you should support. It is meant to give guidance and give you an idea of which ones you might agree most with. You should still still research each party, its stance and its candidates, especially if you are going to vote. This quiz can be a starting point for your research or just give you an idea of your possible political party.
