Restaurant Review: Cookout Gives Best Bang for Buck

By: Raymond Wright

Name a place where you can get hamburgers, quesadillas, corn dogs, barbeque sandwiches, hushpuppies and over 45 flavors of milkshakes. Can’t think of one? Then your next stop needs to be the outdoor-style, mouthwatering Cookout. Cookout brings everything to the table!

In 1989, in the town of Greensboro, NC, Cookout was created by Morris Reaves. The Reaves are still the current owners as the position of CEO has since been handed down to Morris’ son, Jeremy Reaves. As of October 2014, there are 150 locations across the Eastern US, though the Cookout locations are relatively limited in only seven states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Nevertheless, Cookout has quickly grown to become one of the best-known fast food restaurants in the Charlotte area. It’s stealing the hearts of burger enthusiasts everywhere as the place to go for a quick meal or a good place to gather with friends.

Cookout markets by far the best “bang for your buck.” You can get what is known as a “Cookout Tray” for just $4.99. This meal-tray lets you pick your choice of entree, ranging from a double hamburger to a barbeque sandwich to chicken strips. With your choice of entree, you can select any two sides including hush puppies, quesadillas (chicken or beef), chili or fries. Now that you have put together a no-less-than-delicious meal, you get to choose your drink. As far as beverages go, customers can pick from a large soft drink, a huge tea, a bottle of water or a Coke or Cheerwine float. And for only $1 extra, you can choose one of Cookout’s premium milkshakes to quench any sweet tooth you may develop after your savory meal. Also, if you’re not in the mood for an entire meal, Cookout offers individual food options still for a very low price.

So, if you are ever in the mood for delicious fast food, look no further than Cookout. With prices lower than McDonald’s and a better quality burger than Five Guys, there is no reason not to make Cookout your next destination.
