Music Review: Christone “Kingfish” Ingram is a Rising Star

By: Danielle Clark

Among influences like Freddie King and B.B. King and Delta Blues artists like Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, and Lightnin’ Hopkins, 15-year-old Christone “Kingfish” Ingram is one major artist to watch.

Ingram is commonly referred to by critics as “Blues-Rock-Royalty-In-Training,” and a “Blues Phenomenon.” He picked up drums, guitar and bass at the tender age of five. He played for Barack and Michelle Obama at the White House last November and is already on his first tour around France. At only 15 years old, he is light years ahead of what most musicians strive to achieve.

Ingram has one official demo out, titled Delta Boy. Since it’s only a demo, the track only has two songs on it, but they are originals written by Ingram called “Don’t Waste My Time” and “Hell and High Water.” Both are excellent and hold out the promise of great music to follow from this artist.

If you are a B.B. King fan, or any type of fan of blues music, you should give this kid a listen.
