Where to Eat Cheap

Updated: Feb 1

Have you ever been super hungry but unable to find anything in the pantry to eat? Look no further! For only ten dollars or less, Charlotte’s best fast food restaurants can satiate your hunger pangs in under thirty minutes. Here are a few places to munch when the funds are low!

  1. Jimmy Johns: On their menu they have 8-inch subs called Slim Johns. They are about six dollars, so spend the leftovers tipping your driver.

  2. McDonald’s: You may have to walk to McDonald’s, but when money is tight, they can fill you up. The dollar menu is a must for food on the cheap, as you can get all of these items for a dollar! The McDouble, 4-6 chicken nuggets, fruit and yogurt parfait, sweet tea, a cookie and even ice cream are all great choices.

  3. Wendy’s: Still a small walk, but worth it! For ten bucks I have bought fries and chicken nuggets and fed four hungry people! Ask the nice people at the counter and they will be more than happy to help you out with what’s good and cheap.

  4. McAlister’s Deli: (for bigger snacks) My personal favorite is a large plate of ultimate nachos.

  5. Taco Bell: It’s a bit of a drive but the $1.09 Bean Burritos are amazing. I also recommend Locos Tacos or Loaded Grillers.

  6. CHINESE FOOD! Depending on the location, it’ll run you around ten to fifteen dollars depending on the restaurant you choose to order from. Lotus Cafe (next to Bi-Lo) is my favorite because they are authentic and always deliver the same high quality food fresh and hot right to your door or for pickup!

  7. Run to the store quickly and get any of the following: Pizza Rolls, Pizza Bagels, or any kind of Hot Pocket. They will all be around ten dollars or less, even if you get a big bag.

  8. Five Guys fries are some of the best. For ten bucks you can get a bag of fries that will feed at least two people with large appetites.

If you have any suggestions for cheap meals at or under the places listed or any new places to get cheap food around Charlotte, please leave a comment. We’d love to hear feedback from our readers and see what our readers like!
